2019 Standing Orders Workshops July 2019
Meetings are an integral part of decision making in Local Government and Standing Orders are part and parcel of all formal meetings whether Council, Committee, Local Board or Community Board. Being familiar with Standing Orders, understanding what makes an efficient and effective meeting and being able to offer advice to elected members in the political meeting environment is a prerequisite for staff who attend and support elected members at meetings.
Most local authorities have adopted the new, streamlined Standing Orders released in 2016. Those Standing Orders are being updated and this workshop will be able to explore those changes so that staff are well prepared for supporting the incoming elected members post the October 2019 elections.
This workshop will also be of interest to Governance Staff, reporting officers and senior staff that support political meetings.
